50 patacas em 1944

In 1944 Macau was in problems, as many refugues from the WWII had come to the city. The money that circulated in the colony was not enough. A shippment of the new pagoda issue of banknotes was aboard a ship in Mocambique, but because of the dangers with the war could not reach Macau. So the Goverment aproved these certifikate issues with limited circulating time. They were made in Macau under strict security guidance and were handsigned by both the manager of BNU and the Director of Finance and registered before let out to circulate to avoid corruption. The 5p and 10p banknotes are not so difficult to find, but the higher denominations are rarely seen. The banknotes from this issue circulated only a few years, and were replaced by the pagoda issue, that was put in use in Macau 1947.
